It was struck at the Rome Mint between 161 and 175 AD for, and during the lifetime of, the Empress Faustina "Junior" or Faustina "The Younger". She was the daughter of the former Emperor, Antoninus Pius, and the wife of his successor, and current Emperor, the “Philosopher” Marcus Aurelius. She was also the mother of the future Emperor, Commodus. Coins were struck for Faustina during the reign of her father, her husband and after her death. Weight: 8.67 Grams, 28 Millimeters, Copper. The depiction of Salus feeding a serpent from a patera, despite snakes not eating that way, is symbolic rather than literal.
