The siege of Lucknow occurred during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, when Indian troops trained by the British East India Company attempted to expel and murder British soldiers and civilians stationed in India. The British managed to hold onto a small part of the city surrounding the British Residency for several months until they could be evacuated by two relief columns. COLH1858AJKB-0724-aj2012
