Description: This 1868-P Shield Nickel is a highly valuable piece among ERROR coin collectors due to its unique features. The coin is quite circulated and should grade out around VF/XF in our opinion, but please grade it for yourself from the close-up photos offered. If you look closely at the bottom part of the letter C in CENTS on the reverse you will notice that part of the letter C is missing. As far as I know, the ERROR could have been caused by a couple of different things including over polishing of that part of the reverse die or maybe a "filled" part of the letter called a "cud" or even by a die that was so worn out the die itself was broken at the bottom of the letter "C".
