Description: C1103. CATEGORY: State – Idaho TYPE: Vintage Postcard; Color; Continental DESCRIPTION: “This historical landmark of the Palouse Country was named after Colonel Steptoe, who “together with 130 dragoons” was defeated here in 1859 by 600 Spokane, Coeur d’Alene and Palouse Indians. The massive butte, elevation 3613’, was later the site of a hotel which offered a 360-degree panoramic view of the rolling Palouse Farmscape. A good road to the top affords present day visitors this same view. Modern farm practices of some of the most productive grainlands in the world complete the historical history.” CONDITION: Unused; never mailed. Minor corner and edge wear. Soiling and age tanning.
