It was the genre of the historical picture that could adequately convey the scale and tragedy of the plot, reveal the image of a young girl who had so much courage and strength to endure the torture of the Nazis and did not betray her homeland. She was called Tanya - as she called herself during interrogation. Friends went to the village of Petrishchevo, near Moscow, where the girl died, to collect material.
