Star Notes (aka Replacement Notes) are due to a mistake made by the BEP's (Bureau of Engraving & Printing), and due to these mistakes, the BEP shreds the mistaken notes and then prints new notes that have stars on them to signify that they have "REPLACED" the errored bills. Despite being officially called "Replacement Notes", many collectors call them Star Notes. These notes are unfortunately going to be coming to an end due to a new process being introduced, at which time, the value should obviously rise over time since there will be a fixed amount moving forward, despite population growing over time, and therefore the collector population growing with it.
