Description: This copper bar weighing 9 pounds 14 ounces (4480 grams) was the result of melting down an IBM System 3 computer that was used in a Montana business in the late 1970s. In 2012, the bar was assayed by a local Montana lab to determine how much gold was contained in the otherwise copper bar. In one of the photos you can see sample drill holes that the lab used to determine that there are approximately 2 grams of gold in the bar. The computer itself was almost the size of a Volkswagen and it produced 2 of these copper bars, one of which was kept by the smelting outfit. Shipping will be set at $10 since it will take a strong package to ship something of this size and weight. You can get a good idea of the size of the bar by comparing it to the letter sized documents in some of the photos. These are the assay results and those documents will accompany the bar when shipped to the lucky winning bidder. Dave in Montana
