Description: I have a very large collection of books spanning many topics. A massive gathering of Philip K Dick titles and editions, as well as fine press, signed limited editions, modern firsts, radical movement and conceptual art items. I encourage you to browse my store and categories for a wide range of unique, quality offerings. About: This is Eric Newby's now famous accounting of his journey through the Hindu Kush and his attempted ascent of Mir Samir in 1956. Beginning BEFORE ascent, this journey starts in London and the change in Life direction that put him on his path, as well his encounters along the way. Condition: This is a solid VERY GOOD copy in GOOD dust jacket. The TWO fold-out maps are both present and in stunning condition. It almost felt like they had NOT been folded out prior to my inspection. The binding is firm and boxed. SEE IMAGES. Visible but minor shelf rubbing to the edges, bumping to the spine ends and corners. Internally, clean and free of markings. The first endpaper does have a TINY tear to the bottom page edge. The dust jacket is edgeworn with some tearing and chipping (SEE IMAGES), but overall this jacket is still bright and attractive, covered with a brodart. NOT price clipped. Book is preserved in an acid-free archival bag. Quite uncommon with a jacket, let alone a jacket in decent condition. I will happily answer any further questions. Making offers: I certainly can appreciate wanting a better deal, and I've made offers myself on my own purchases. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers. Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer. If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success.
