This beauty is Hippeastrum Picasso, named after the famous painter Picasso. The flowers are bright white, eye-spotted with red and a special thin red edge. The Andes mountains of Peru provide ideal growing conditions for optimal growth and bulb vigor, resulting in early blooming in 6 weeks. Peruvian Amaryllis are specially selected to be flowering around holidays compare with dutch Amaryllis, dutch Amaryllis takes about 12 weeks to flower. If you pot your Peruvian amaryllis between Nov. 1 and Nov. 15, they will bloom during the Christmas holidays. Use a good quality soil-less potting mix or a blend of one part peat moss and one part coarse sand for planting. Make sure to not plant too deep and leave the top of the bulb ("shoulder') just slightly above the soil.2. Growing: Water in your newly planted bulbs thoroughly, but don't water again until the new sprout is well out of the bulb. Once you have a sprout a few inches long, water regularly and soon your amaryllis will produce its spectacular, huge flowers. Remember to turn the pot regularly to make sure the stalk grows straight, as these bulbs have a tendency to grow towards the light.3. Aftercare: When all flowers are gone, cut off the tubular flower stems near the top of the bulb, leaving the foliage to continue to grow. Water as usual and apply water-soluble fertilizer every four weeks, treating or growing this as a house plant. In Spring after danger of frost, set the Amaryllis plant/pot in the garden in a shady or part shade location for the summer. Continue to fertilize. The bulb is building up strength now for the flower explosion next Winter or Spring. At the end of the summer, place the pot on its side and allow the soil to dry out. Cut off the dry leaves, and in about 6 weeks repot your bulb in fresh potting soil and the growing cycle begins again. Why buy it from us?
