Description: Item: Ancient seed, spice, or (dry) pigment pot from the "Indus Valley" region of what is today Baluchistan. Most likely Kulli culture, not Harrapan. 99% of genuine ancient pottery sold as "Indus Valley" is not Harrapan but, instead, Kulli or Nal. This piece is from approximately 1500-900 BCE. Please be sure before you buy as I am not an expert, only a well-informed enthusiast. Description: Indus Valley pot I acquired in an auction lot of three. I only wanted two of the three as I am limited on space for my collection. Hence this one and another (at original time of auction) are for sale along with some Huastec pottery. Items in fore- and back-ground are not included and are not for sale. You are buying only one item in this sale. Condition: Used with wear associated with age, use, and poor storage. Heavy mineral encrustations (calcium salts) and losses to pigment, rim, & foot. Micro-fissures likely but not visible on display. Intact, unrestored, but exhibiting pitting and losses to slip and pigment as expected with items buried for 3,000 years. Not sure if removing calcium bloom will reveal more pigment or if it has been lost to time.
