Antique Japanese Jubako 5 Tier Stacking Bento Box Lacquer + Storage Container

Description: This beautiful Antique Japanese wood 5 tier Stack Bento Boxes with lid comes with its original wood storage box. This bento box is from the Meiji Era (1868-1912), with a beautiful landscape scene on it. each box is a brown lacquer with Gold over it. This is coming from a home of a teacher who travel the world teaching on military bases. She taught in Japan from 1967 to 1969 and bought the bento box that came with its original storage container, at an antique sale sponsored by one of the women’s groups at Grant Heights Air Force Base where she was teaching with the Department of Defense. This 5 tier stacking bento box, plus lid measures approximately 15 1/2” tall x 9” wide x 9” deep. For its age I would call its condition good to very good. there are some chips in the wood, but mostly in the corners, and at the outer top edge of the lid. The brown does have some Discoloration in areas, some of the boxes are slightly lighter than the others (this maybe original to the boxes but I am unsure). This has been displayed in her home since late 1960s. It comes with its original wood / storage carry box. This storage box measures 22 1/4” tall. it has 2 pull out tray/shelves, and the opening is a sliding door opening at the top. (it has a burlap wrap ties to hold the front door in place, I’m sure this was in addition). This original wood carry / storage box does show lots of wear, as it should for its age, it’s amazing that it is still with its original bento boxes. eBay tends to overcharge on shipping for larger boxes, so once it is packaged up I will refund any overpayment.
