The Norimitsu line continued for nine generations, lasting until the first year of Bunroku in the late Muromachi period (1592).Considering the Mei and the high quality, this Norimitsu, so called Kansho Norimitsu, who was active during the early Muromachi Period from Eikyo to Bunmei Era, around 1430 to 1470. He held a reputation of being the most highly skilled swordsmiths among the Norimitsu Lineage. The highlights of this Wakizashi are a faint Midare-ustsuri on the Ji and a bit different Hamon on the Omote and the Ura. The koshirae are distinguished by a scabbard with a unique design, featuring a lacquer technique known as 'kage maki-e.' This specialized method of lacquering demonstrates the exceptional skill of the artisan who crafted it.
