Description: Antique Pressed + Cut Glass Font Fluid Lamp, Lemon Squeezer Glass Base, c. 1820 - 1840. This whale oil glass lamp is a fine early example with great workmanship. This lamp has an octagonal pressed glass shaped font with sixteen faceted cut panels to it's eight sides, as it is cut at the top and bottom. This font is joined by a wide wafer, to a pressed glass lemon squeezer base. This lamp has a brass collar with a pewter two tube, whale oil burner at the top. (top of collar) x 2 7/8" Dia at the font, x 3 1/2" square at the pressed glass base. CONDITION: The lamp is in good condition with some chips to two corners and some minor chips and wear to the base. There are also the imperfections often found in early flint glass of this period. There are deep striations to the glass at the base.
