Description: 3 lovely silver-plated forks (2 small, 1 large) with the mark of William A. Rogers (Oneida). The silver plating is A1, the highest quality rating, with the most silver used in the plating. The floral pattern is very art deco, similar to more common Wm. A. Rogers from the late 1930s, such as “Rosalie.” Based on that and the mark, I’d tentatively date the pattern to the late 30s or early 40s. The forks are in good condition. The silver plating is pretty intact, probably due to how much silver was used. On the small forks, I don’t see any places where the silverplate has worn away. On the large fork, there’s a little wear near the ends of the tines, probably from use. There isn’t much patina, but the small forks (salad forks?) have some lovely rainbow sheen near the edges of the tines. The price reflects the amount of silver used in A1 plating. About the patina: Because many people prefer antique silverware with the patina of age, and consider the colors that can develop beautiful, I don’t do anything to remove patina/tarnish from metal pieces. I do wash them in warm soapy water and dry them with a soft cloth to remove any dirt, so that they arrive both clean and well-aged. Shipping: I ship silver, copper, and other metal pieces wrapped in foam sheets, honeycomb paper or bubble wrap, and a mixture of recycled and new padding such as air packets. They should arrive well-cushioned and intact. About me: I collect beautiful objects with interesting histories. I’m a new seller on eBay, and prices are often negotiable while I’m getting my eBay page off the ground.
