Description: Up for sale is a beautiful 19th century antique oil painting depicting a fine portrait of a young boy seated. Initialed in the low right corner "I.W.B" and dated 1877 this work is executed in oil on board measuring 12 x 9.5 inches while its original heavily decorated gold gesso wood frame measures 18.5 x 16 inches. The only artists I was able to identify with these initials and time period were both engravers and jewelers being Isaac William Boone and Isaac W. Britton. This young man sits dressed in a rather drab mostly gray jacket, pants and hat while looking off into the distance. His hands just barely visible outside of the cuffs of his long sleeves rest easily as he appears quite patient and satisfied from his facial features. This painting while in excellent original condition needs a good revarnishing which would help the visual appearance of the work as you can see from the photos taken it is darker and details obscured compared to later images which show the work with some purified water on its surface. The frame shows some loss to its gesso.
