He appeared in Wild West shows and circuses and then entered films in 1917 and by 1919 was playing lead roles. He appeared in many western films in the 1920s and 1930s, usually with his horse Silver. Jones perished along with more than 300 people who were in the infamous Grove nightclub fire in Boston, November 30, 1942.
