Description: I have for sale a medal issued by Chicago, Illinois that commemorated the centennial of our nation, the day, April 30, 1789, that George Washington took the oat of office & became the first President of the United States. The medal is made of white metal, it is 1 7/16 inch in diameter and in circulated condition. This medal is listed in the Douglas catalog as #51, in the Musante Medallic Washington catalog as #1076 and in the Standard Catalog of U.S. Tokens by Rulau as IL Ch7. This medal was issued with a hole and originally came with a red, white & blue ribbon. The obverse shows the bust of George Washington in the center. At the rim it reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse at the rim it reads THE CENTENNIAL OF OUR NATION - CHICAGO COMMEMORATION.
