Description: Maker: This charmingly naïve handmade and hand painted condiment set is by the well-known ceramics firm Ceramica Pinto. Vincenzo Pinto produced works of ceramic art in his Vietri Sul Mare, Italy, studio beginning in 1910 and the company is still in business today. On the base of each piece is the handwritten PV Italy mark (for Pinto Vietri) and pattern numbers that appear to be 04618, 04608 and 04018. Composition and size: The set consists of:- 1 oil jug, 4 inches wide between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle, and 5 1/4 inches tall at the tip of the spout. - 1 vinegar jug, 4 inches wide between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle, and 5 1/4 inches tall at the tip of the spout.- 1 mustard pot, 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/8 inches wide at the opening. Together the set weighs 1 pound 14 ounces. Design: The vividly painted set features a delightful turquoise rooster and scrolls against a white background. On the vinegar jug the rooster is crowing; on the oil jug it is not. Condition: All 3 bases are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, cracks, scratches, stains or repairs. The mustard jar lid and one of the jug stoppers have small chips - they are shown in the photos with the penny. The set also has the tiny pinpricks and irregularities that are typical of handmade Italian ceramics and part of their charm. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection of Italian ceramics or a great display on its own. Please check all the photos very carefully. They are an important part of the description.
