The D ring makes tightening the plate to the camera very easy. No tool ,or coin needed, just you fingers. his release plate is 2 mm higher than the original to allow the D ring to function correctly. T The mounting surface has non-abrasive no-slip surface. Unlike the original rubbery surface that tends to glaze and brittle, the new non-slip helps to hold the camera in place better.
