Description: [zipedit] DenmarkAdvertising Poster Stamp Poster stamp issued to advertise Ford Motor Company A/S, which was the Danish subsidiary of the American firm The Ford Motor Company. According to Wikipedia: Ford Motor Company A/S is a Danish subsidiary of Ford Motor Company in the USA. In 1906, the company acquired F. Bülow & Co., the general representation of Ford in Denmark, which it had until 19 January 1924. The subsidiary of Ford was established 25. June 1919 and is one of the oldest European subsidiaries, which was established to assemble and negotiate Ford T. In 1919, Ford established an assembly plant in Heimdalsgade on Nørrebro in Copenhagen, where the Ford T was manufactured for sale in Scandinavia, the Baltics, Poland and Germany. An assembly line was installed at the factory, which was probably the first in Denmark. From 1921, tractors were also manufactured. In 1924, the company had a new and larger assembly plant of 11,000 square meters built in Sydhavnen in Copenhagen, designed by the company's permanent architect Albert Kahn and inaugurated on 15 November in the presence of, among others, Prime Minister Thorvald Stauning. The engineers on the reinforced concrete structure was Monberg & Thorsen. Franz Šedivý has made a drawing of the factory in bird's eye view. 75% of the production was exported. The share capital grew during this period from the original ½ million Danish Kroner to the then astronomical amount of 30 million kroner. Competition for the gradually growing customer base for automobiles was quickly intensified, and a few months before (October 1923 ) the inauguration of Ford's new factory, General Motors had established a Danish assembly plant in Aldersrogade in Østerbro. In parallel, Citroën and Fiat established sales organizations in Denmark, while Bohnstedt-Petersen also imported car brands. With General Motors as the impetus came in 1924-25 to a sharp competition for customers, including with ads in Politiken. Production peaked in 1925 with a total of 24,579 Ford T-cars, which were made until August 1927, when a restructuring of production began. The Danish workers were paid much higher than their colleagues in the metal industry in Copenhagen, but in return the management in the USA forbade the Danish employees to join the union. In 1927-28, Ford Motor Company A/S terminated the existing agreements, which led to an extensive labor dispute. In July 1928, production of the new Ford A began. The factory in Sydhavnen closed in 1966 after producing a total of 325,482 vehicles. The factory building was demolished in 2006 after a failed conservation proposal. The Danish Forest and Nature Agency had initiated a conservation case in 1994, but when a corner of the factory building had been expropriated and demolished as part of the construction of the Øresund line, and then the owner, Højgaard & Schultz, protested against a conservation. In the original proposal, it read: "The Building Inspectorate finds that Ford's former assembly plant is a unique example of American industrial architecture and shows the importance of the United States for the Danish modernization process in this century" The subsidiary is now located in Ballerup. The design of this stamp depicts the Ford factory at Sydhavnen, and is perhaps the same drawing done by Franz Šedivý. It also has a large V8 at the side of the image, promoting the company's V-8 engine, which was on Ward's list of the top ten automotive engines of the 20th century. This is a Mærkat style poster stamp, published by F.E. Bording A/S, in 1941, and is numbered 531. This example is F/VF, OG, NH. Approximate Image Size: 50 x 30 mm. * STOCK IMAGE DUE TO RECENT NON-DELIVERY CLAIMS - EXTRA FEES FOR SHIPPING MAY BE REQUIRED FOR SOME ADDRESSES. Please inquire if you have any questions. After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described. * A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
