Description: This unique butter mold most likely originated in Scandinavia and dates from the late 19th century. Closed, it looks like a litte house with a peaked roof. Long wooden pegs hold it together and when the long one is removed, they allow the sides it to swivel open and release the roof from it’s supporting trenches. Inside are four delicate carvings. The wood is light inside and it appears to have never been used. The outside has a warm dark aged patina. A sweet feature is the two indentations on the long peg. Makes it easier to grip a what could be a buttery piece of wood. Measures 4½” square and is 5 1/4” tall. Happy to answer any questions or provide more photos.Problem?
