The Scheibes' cherished this unique gift and would often show friends and colleagues so they could also experience its uniqueness. After all, there weren't many around! Eventually along came a new decade with the bandwidth-battered 90s. Through all this time Claire had developed an idea - he wanted to share this set with all so anyone could add it to their personal collection. As you would have it, in 1994 the ERTL Company, INC granted Claire exclusive rights to reprint the first twelve open market catalogs. He marketed them as an opportunity to purchase these vintage catalogs in four sets over ten months. This turned out to be a great idea - with the internet in its infancy, monthly mailings were a great way to keep connected to your customers and keep them glued to their mailboxes every month to see what would be revealed when they tore open the package. Much the same way many of us stay glued to our front step waiting for that special package from Amazon! The fourth and final shipment included a binder with inserts to keep all 12 catalogs neat and organized. They also received a bonus reprinted 1973 and 1974 ERTL Ertl Kins catalogs and a 1985 Ford OEM catalog entitled ‘1985 Blueprint Replicas’. Once this final installment was received it allowed the entire set to be archived in a safe and presentable manner. They turned out great! On top of what they had already received, customers were delighted to also acquire a cover insert for the binder with a young Fred Ertl III's signature as well as a letter seated comfortably in the front pocket with an actual signature from Claire Scheibe himself. Original patrons ended up with a binder of treasure in their possession. You might be wondering why this story included specific lighthearted characterizations of past decades. Well, thanks to Claire and the Ertl Company, collectors can pass this down for decades to come for those younger than us to treasure. And that's something for the ages. ______________________________________________________ *Don't miss the crisp-looking orange and black NTT'NC Show Model we have for sale for $240 - you won't find it for a lower price!* _______________________________________A bit about Toy Farmer/Toy Trucker & Contractor: Toy Farmer LTD began in 1978, by publishing a four page newsletter, The Toy Farmer.
