Description: Fantastic historical TREWEY, THE ABSOLUTE MASTER, HOPKINS TRANS-OCEANIC COMPANY Token, ND (ca. 1892.) The Token is about 23 mm across, and weighs about 3.4 g. The Obverse of the Token depicts a shield with an eye and a hand with the Lettering TRAVAIL / PATIENCE / PROGRES, and TREWEY, THE ABSOLUTE MASTER around. The Lettering on the Reverse reads : HOPKINS / TRANS - OCEANIC COMPANY. A bit of history. Felicien Trewey was a chapeaugraphist, shadowist, juggler, mimic and magician - beautiful clips of his acts can be found in You Tube. He was also friend of Harry Houdini. John D. Hopkins, and an early exhibitor of motion pictures. He joined for a short time the Hopkins Transoceanic Star Specialty Company, which was a vaudeville company of the 1890s.
