Description: This is a rare May 16th, 1927 broadside (single page playbill) from the Post-Broadway engagement of the JOHN COLTON Melodrama of the Orient "THE SHANGHAI GESTURE" at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco, California. (The Original Broadway production opened February 1st, 1926 at New York's Martin Beck Theatre and transferred in July 1926 to the Sam S. Shubert Theatre where it closed for a summer hiatus on July 31st, 1926 after 206 performances. The production returned on September 6th, 1926 to Chanin's 46th Street Theatre for an additional 121 performances before going on the road.) ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) The bottom of the broadside was trimmed, the date is written at the top and there is slight discoloration to the right edge and moderate edge wear. Despite these flaws, this rare program will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
