Description: The Pine Tree Shilling is considered to be one of the absolute first coins in America. They were minted in Boston from 1667-1682, but all had the date of 1652 on them. The originals are considered by collectors to be one of the "holy grails" of coins, and sell for anywhere from about $800-$100,000. The Black Spot Guild version bears the year 1692, in remembrance of the famous Salem which trials. The Pine Tree Shilling, along with the famous "pieces of eight", would have been common currency in Salem and the colonies during the witch hysteria, so that is the perfect year to have on them. As with all Black Spot Guild coins, there is a subtle pirate influence on the coin as well. This combined with the 1692 date, sets them apart from the originals and makes them not quite a replica, but rather artwork. All while being minor enough to not notice unless you really know what you are looking for! Just like all my cobs, this one is struck in solid .999 fine silver, completely by hand, in my workshop in New Hampshire. They weigh 9 grams, true to the originals, and are about the size of a quarter. They are available in a natural or antiqued finish. The pictures are examples of my coins but not the exact ones you will receive. Keep in mind, these are 100% made by hand by me, by weighing out silver, melting it, shaping it, then finally striking it between dies of my own design. As such, each coin will vary a bit. No two will be alike in the shape and what portion of the die actually strikes onto the silver, just like the originals! All that being said; I will need a week or two to make them and ship them out, depending how much silver I have on hand and how many orders I am working on.
