HO Scale MTH Union Pacific Veranda Turbine #73 with Proto-Sound 3.0 DCC & Smoke

Description: For sale is a used HO scale MTH Veranda Turbine locomotive, painted as Union Pacific no. 73. It comes factory-fitted with a Proto-Sound 3.0 decoder, complete with sound, working LED headlights and taillights, working marker and numberboard lights, working Mars light, and working smoke generator. This model has seen only light use. It runs smoothly and all sound and lighting functions work. The decoder's settings are all factory default. The decoder address is 3. The body is made of heavy diecast with plastic and metal details. Four of the eight axles are driven. This locomotive is in great cosmetic condition. Please see photos. When I purchased this model it was in nearly new cosmetic condition but had two major running issues - it had a cracked gear axle in the front driven truck, and the smoke generator wasn't working. This model is a reissue of the Lionel HO scale Veranda Turbine, and unfortunately suffers from the same cracking gear axle problem as the Lionel version. I replaced the broken gear axle with a North West Short Line #2462-6 Lionel Turbine replacement gear, and the locomotive now runs smoothly in both directions. I inspected all of the other gears and they are in good condition. The smoke generator fault was due to a bad solder joint, which I also fixed, and the smoke generator now runs strongly. I replaced the original automatic couplers with the included McHenry (Kadee-compatible) magnetic knuckle couplers, but the automatic couplers did work while they were installed. The locomotive is packed in its original box. Note this model did not come with the optional tender, MTH used the same box with or without the tender. Packed with it are a sachet of MTH Proto-Smoke, a spare NWSL #2462-6 replacement gear, the automatic couplers and mounting parts, and the original paperwork.
