Description: Hudson's Bay Red Wool Coat Knit Collar Heavy Vintage Women's Made in Canada Rare Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Hudson's Bay red wool coat. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This coat has a beige sweater knit collar, and this model is uncommon or rare. It has a cozy lining of an unknown material throughout the body, and the sleeves have a quilted fabric lining. The front has buttons, which are on the wearer's left side, so this is believed to be a woman's coat. There are two front pockets. This is difficult to measure accurately, due to the thickness, so all measurements are only approximate. When flat, this is about 23 1/2 inches across the armpits (approximately 47 inch chest). The bottom hem is about 24 inches across when flat (approximately 48 inches around at the bottom hem). From the armpit to the lower hem, the length is about 22 inches. There are three seams at the top of each sleeve; each sleeve is approximately 20 inches long from its upper shoulder seam to the cuff or 19 inches long from its lower shoulder seam to the cuff. This piece weighs 4 pounds 1.1 ounces, unpacked. If you need another specific measurement, please ask. This would be a good addition to a collection of vintage Hudson's Bay clothing. Identification The exact age of this vintage coat is not known. There is no size tag or care label; if they were there originally, they are gone now. The only label present says, "THIS IS A GENUINE HUDSON'S BAY SEAL OF QUALITY GARMENT HUDSON'S BAY COMPANY INCORPORATED 1670 THE SEAL OF QUALITY 100% WOOL LAINE CA00234 MADE IN CANADA." Condition This looks very good overall, with no holes. It has minor wear from use. There is minor pilling to the knit collar. Most of the red wool's surface is fluffy, but there are some areas which are more smooth, probably pile wear areas. The cuff areas have more wear than elsewhere, but it is still minor overall; there is subtle discoloration/fading to the cuff areas which I could only see when examining under my bright photography lights. There are some hand stitched repairs to the linings of the sleeves, done by a previous owner. There are a few stray threads which I did not trim. The button closures function properly and there are no missing buttons. There are no foul odors, just a faint, musty smell from storage that is only detectable up close. I do not know if it was previously in a smoker's house or a pet-filled home. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying. Terms of Sale 1.
