Description: A gold coloured metal badge with a 3.5cm wide badge face and a safety clasp style fastener to the rear. Manufactured for MDZ which is the Mezinárodní den žen or MDŽ in Czech, meaning International Day (of) Women in former Czechoslovakia. Featuring the initials MDZ and a plant with an atom next to it. The electrons and nucleus are represented with cut, plastic jewels. It's an unusual MDZ badge that doesn't depict a woman or a dove of peace. Perhaps the atom refers to the peace that atomic power can bring. The first International Womens days were held at the beginning of the 20th century. They are still observed in Europe, but seem to have been replaced by Mother's Day in the UK and the USA; which precludes Women who have not had children. The MDZ celebration focuses on general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women for their economic, political and social achievements. The official celebration day is March 8th.
