This plant's arching habit lends it to growing wider than it does tall and producing cascades of vibrant pink blooms from late Summer to Fall. When not blooming, Bush Clover is an attractive shrub tightly covered in soft sage green trifolate leaves. Blooms are prolific late in the season when most Spring blooms are on their way out. Classic pea-shaped blooms in shades of pink and purple cover the plant for weeks at a time. This plant blooms most prolifically on new growth, so aggressive pruning after blooming is recommended for best appearance. Lespedeza thunbergii will thrive in poor soil quality and become relatively drought tolerant once established. While Little Volcano will grow and bloom in partial shade, it will bloom most prolifically in full sun. Little Volcano does not freely reseed and does not possess the invasive potential of other similar plants.
