The new higher hood lines created a more pleasing and somewhat bigger appearance for Chevrolet trucks. There was a new one-ton truck chassis for 1923. With the demise of the Series FB passenger cars, production of the 224 cubic inch engine had ceased, leaving only the 171 cubic inch engine for use in the truck line. As a result, the new one-tonner, known as the Series D, must have been seriously underpowered. Chevrolet sold on the basis of quality, low operating costs, and the truck's excellent appearance.
