Description: Mexican-American War *Museum Piece* Oil Painting- Hal Stone, 1953 or Earlier Depicting Charles A. May's 2nd Dragoons (now the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment). The title of the painting is excerpted from a quote attributed to May. If you google the painting's name "Remember Your Regiment" you'll find much info on this painting (it has it's own wiki page and has a feature on a US Military page). This painting was commissioned by the US Army in the early 1950s as part of a series featuring US Conflicts and Wars to turn into a series of prints. #21 of 40 (also referenced on the back of this painting- maybe by the printer). First printed in 1953 so the painting would have been completed that year or earlier. It was also printed as part of a trading card series "US Army In Action" the same year. I will include a nice copy of the card with the painting see 2nd and 3rd to last pics). Oil on canvas-textured masonite. Approx. 22-1/2" x 31" board size, Final Image area approx. 18-1/4" x 26-3/4" allowing for approx. 1/4" to 3/8" into the overall image area of 19" x 27-1/4". I'd like to see this sell to a military museum, preferably national or in Southern Texas where the battle occurred, but all (collectors or dealers) are welcome. During my research, I saw that this image is in the public domain, so there's an added opportunity to sell prints of your own. The painting was probably framed at least twice and is currently unframed since the corner of the last frame received a damaged corner. That frame was also very heavy and had glass covering so shipping unframed is the best option considering the final frame choice will be left to the new owner. Before removing it from the frame, I took photos and am showing those (as seen in the first photo and the damaged frame corner in the last photo) just as a reference, the painting will arrive to you unframed.
