Märklin #26617 DSB Denmark Era V Diesel Köf Freight Set, New in Box, 2020

Description: This listing is for a Märklin H.O. #26617 Mfx Digital DSB (Denmark) Era V Diesel Köf Freight Set. It is brand new in the original box. In the 1960s, the Danish State Railways (DSB) needed a number of small locomotives to replace steam locomotives used for switching operations. After successful test use of a DB Köf II in 1963/64, the DSB ordered twenty of the similar Køf with road numbers 251-270 from Frichs in Aarhus. They were delivered in 1966. They were a copy of the German units with small changes such as the English Leyland motor and an updated cab. In 1967, the DSB ordered another 20 Køf units from Frichs with road numbers 271-290 with improvements that included completely enclosed cabs with windows and doors (later added to the first series). Some of these small locomotives are still in use in in Denmark in 2023. Model: The diesel locomotive has an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions. Two axles are powered. Track adhesion magnets are included to improve pulling power. The locomotive has a new Telex coupler front and rear and each coupler can be controlled separately in digital operation. Triple headlights and dual red marker lights change over with the direction of travel. The locomotive will work in conventional operation, as well as in Digital mode. The headlights at either end of the locomotive can be turned on or off separately in digital operation. The locomotive has the double "A" light function. Twelve solid wheel sets are included for each stake car as a prototypical load. Sixteen stakes for the sides and four stakes for the ends are included for each car and can be installed by the user. Total length of the train over the buffers is 39.5 cm, (15-9/16 inches). Prototype information: Danish State Railways (DSB) Köf II small diesel locomotive with two type Kbs two-axle stake cars. The Köf II has an orange/gray basic paint scheme with an enclosed cab. The train looks as it did at the end of the 1990s. Digital Functions: Telex Coupler at each end (separately controllable).
