The box was dipped in shellac several times, giving it an extremely thick finish that took several months to fully cure. You can see in the pictures how the shellac has settled and is thicker in some spots. I felt this made this piece look uniquely rustic. It is recommended that you do not store very heavy items in this box, since the inside is also finished. Very heavy items can cause indentations in the finish.
