Description: My name is Kate: I am helping my dad sell his huge, 45+ year personal collection of original and NOS, C1, C2, and C3 Corvette parts. He has a 20 year Ebay history of 100% positive feedback for buying and selling and we intend to maintain that rating. We are trying our best to accurately describe the item. If our description leaves you with questions, please ask for further information/clarification before bidding/buying. The item shown in the photos is the item you will receive. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please contact us immediately so we can resolve the issue. Item Description: We are surprised to be offering a NOS 3736097 camshaft that was buried on our shelf for over 40 years. If you saw our old warehouse, you would understand. Today we opened the GM tube for the first time ever. We took photos of it happening at the shop and we even kept the staples that held the tube end insert. There is the name Drexal written on the tube and I remember buying a pile of parts from him in the early 80s. A drag racer from Michigan. Anyway, I never thought I would see another one of these genuine cams in this never used condition. This camshaft was used in high performance Chevy engines, especially Corvettes, from 1957 to 1963 and was commonly referred to as the Duntov camshaft. It is a solid lifter cam designed by Zora Duntov for the higher horsepower fuel injection engines as well as the 270, 340, and 365hp carbureted engines. They make aftermarket copies but this camshaft needs to go into a special engine. Don't remember when GM discontinued these but one of the labels on the tube has a 1975 date. Just can't be many of these never installed original camshafts out there if any. For us old Corvette racers, this is a treasure. Note: The GM identification number 3736098 is on the camshaft but it is very faint. Please see the photo of our 1972 Chevrolet Dealer parts counter book that notes the 3736098 designation. The reason I found it is because I knew it had to be there from past experience. It is part of the casting and we tried to photo it without much success. If you angle a light on it just right, you can make it out. It is part of the casting between two of the lobes, not stamped. We considered polishing that area but didn't want to disturb the surface of the lubes. You can do that if you choose. Shipping: We will securely box the item ourselves with no charge for the packaging materials or our time (no handling charges). We prefer to use the USPO or UPS but if you require other methods, we can most likely accommodate you. If our listing shows "free shipping" or a "fixed shipping charge", that is for shipping to the continental USA states. If that does not apply to you, then please contact us for the shipping charge. In all cases, you will never be charged more than the actual carrier shipping/insurance cost. And we will ship as timely as reasonable, knowing that we are not a full time, 8 to 5 business and we are not always home. In a few cases a signature may be required at destination point. Item can be picked up in Springfield, NE which is near Omaha. We will pay the insurance based on sale price.
