This quality door knocker was manufactured in the 1970s by the vintage Danish brass Maker Axel Hasselstrøm A/S. It is made out of solid, high quality heavy Danish-made brass. This is not the lightweight, thin, low-quality brass that comes from places like India, China, Mexico and Pakistan. See the Danish flag tag that says "Messing" Messing is Danish for brass. Door knocker has an aged brass finish with some antiquing to it. Features a Fox Hunting scene with a man on a horse who is blowing a horn, his dogs, and the on the knocking bar, the head of a fox! Denmark has a long history of castles, Kings and Queens, and one of their Royal pastimes was foxhunting! Approximate Measurements: 6 Inches Tall4-3/4 Inches Wide, at widest pointsand about 1-1/2 Inches deep or thick at the fox head HEAVY FOR ITS SIZE, it weighs 1 Pound 9 Ounces, UNPACKED! Has two holes on mounting bracket. MOUNTING SCREWS NOT INCLUDED. I would recommend using appropriately long brass screws to support the weight of the door knocker. HISTORY: What a find! Imported from Denmark directly by my parents, who were importers.
