Description: Original oil on board by American Impressionist painter Parker S. Perkins (1862-1942). This oil depicts rocks and surf of the Cape Ann coast and is signed by the artist at bottom right. It measures 14 1/2 x 17 5/8 inches. There is a small loss to the upper edge, frame rabbet should cover it, and there is a watercolor touch up to a scratch on the far left rock, only evident on close inspection, otherwise the painting is in excellent original condition. Will frame up beautifully. Parker S. Perkins (1862-1942) was an American marine painter noted for his harbor views and coastal landscape scenes. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Perkins exhibited with the Boston Art Club in 1895, 1891, 1894, and 1898. Eventually he settled in Rockport to easily access his favorite subject matter, the rocky shoreline of the Cape Ann coast. Perkins also exhibited regularly in New York and at the Rockport Art Association where he was a member. Paintings by him are in the permanent collections of the Whistler House Museum of Art in Lowell, MA; the Rockport Art Association and museums in Syracuse, Detroit, and Mexico City.
