Description: These are an original pair of British number plates made by the Hills corporation in the 1950’s. They are all original and in great shape, both sit flat and are free from any major defect. There are minor scratches on the long one, but nothing serious. Very minor corrosion on the backside, also nothing serious and can be polished out. Perfect for your 1950’s British car restoration that will score extra points at any concourse. Bottom of each plate is engraved with the “HILLS” logo, and the long one also has “STAINES - LONDON” engraved as well. The long one measures approximately 18 inches by 5 inches, and the smaller one 13 inches by 8.5 inches. Die pressed thick aluminum, approximately 3/32” thick. The plates were originally registered in London, indicated by the suffix “YH” area identifier. More likely this was registered sometime in the mid to late 50’s, as by then they had started reversing the sequence after running out of combinations of 3 letters followed by 1-3 numbers.
