Description: Very nice copy of the rare original 1959 first pressing of Paul Chambers’ Go LP on Vee Jay LP 1014. Features a band of legends: Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Kelly, Cannonball Adderley, Philly Joe Jones, and Jimmy Cobb. Original 1959 maroon label mono pressing. The disc has some light scuffs but it plays beautifully with only very light background noise in places, mostly just between tracks. If you know Vee Jay records from this time you know they can be rather poor pressings, and this one has some of the common slight bubbling in the vinyl and the spindle hole is very slightly off center, but neither of those issues affect the play. Really minor. The whole thing plays just splendidly with barely the slightest light background crackle, as I say. Really a beautiful player. The cover has some edgewear, with a split at the top edge about halfway across, and major fraying on the spine (see photos). Also some corner wear and light ringwear. And a name written on the back. But still, the cover is actually quite nice nonetheless, as you can see. This is a very nice original copy despite the wear, and it sounds just beautiful.
