Pre WWII Japanese Koto Musical Instrument w/Mother of Pearl Inlay Gold Gilt Silk

Description: Up for sale is a Pre-WWII Japanese Koto Musical Instrument with Mother of Pearl Inlay, Gold Leaf Accent and a cotton or bamboo woven with silk cloth wrapping in the original bamboo handmade box. It came out of the estate of a WW2 vet with many other fine antique items brought back such as swords, spirit houses etc from his time in Japan during the war. It shows good age so its most likely pre-1940's and may even possibly be antique, thus the age is unknown but it is definitely vintage. It does have one broken string as shown in the photos but otherwise there are no major noticeable defects present on the instrument. The soft cloth appears to be a cotton and silk mix or its possibly rayon (bamboo) fiber mix that was wrapped around the instrument which sits inside the original handmade bamboo box that shows wear appropriate with age also shown in the photos. Overall its in amazing condition and would look perfect if the buyer could replace the string that is broken. It sits on the standing legs well and has incredibly beautiful detail of a mother of pearl "butterfly" inlay along with what look like silk tassels on the top and bottom. It should also be noted that there is gold gilding on the end of the instrument adding a really fine detail that makes it look like an amazing piece of craftsmanship. One can tell someone spent quite a bit of time making this item with care and artistry. It is a nice smaller size that can display well on a bookshelf or table etc in any room measuring approximately 19" x 4" with the box dimensions being 21" x 5 1/2".
