Dragon Ball Z: Sagas lets gamers take the roles of five DBZ heroes -- Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Trunks -- and play through the first parts of the anime series' sophisticated storyline, from the Saiyan Saga through the Cell Games.

DBZ Sagas is designed to let fans explore open-ended areas featured on the television show. Random enemies and hidden items promote an "emergent," sandbox-style of play. Since the main game mode follows the plot of the animated series, the playable character changes through the adventure's 19 levels, according to the heroes featured in the different chapters of the story. Famous villains such as Cell, Nappa, and Raditz are featured as well, in boss battles that occur between the third-person adventure levels. Once the main game has been completed, new playable characters are unlocked, and gamers can revisit levels as any hero they wish, even if their choice doesn't make sense in the Dragon Ball Z timeline.
