Pure PURPLE Paneled HALL'S Sore Throat REMEDY patent medicine bottle

Description: A 4 3/4 inch tall oval-shaped deep PURPLE AMETHYST color antique SORE THROAT REMEDY patent medicine bottle. This is a super rare bottle, not listed in any of the publications we own, and it is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it back to the 1800's. Bottle embossed: "HALL'S SORE THROAT REMEDY", all within the front indented panel.Condition: This bottle is in GOOD STURDY condition. It has stain (patina) and age-wear, otherwise it is good and solid; NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. (See photos for overall condition)Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. late 1800's.Shipping: FREE domestic shipping. Not just that, but it is rare too, as a matter of fact it is UN listed. Unlisted? We cannot find one of these listed in our vast library of books specifically on antique bottles. It is also embossed REMEDY, a Remedy, which is a category of collecting in itself. Then there is the PURE PURPLE color. You hear about old bottles turning purple ... this is the result of being made with manganese in the glass, a mineral that was pulverized and added to vats of liquid glass that acted as a decolorizing agent to turn the natural aqua-tinted glass into a pure crystal clear colorless glass. Exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, triggers a chemical reaction and the manganese oxidizes and turns a wonderful amethyst color. We had a friend of ours accelerate the sun color purple process by passing this little bottle through an industrial food sterilizer which has the same affect as the sun, but lots faster. With few exceptions, only glass made before 1914 will turn purple. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make this a great looking little bottle, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique.
