This radio seems to work fine, and it works with both the adapter as well as batteries.The scanner would not power up using batteries initially, but after taking it apart I was able to locate hidden corrosion and remove it, and now it powers up fine with batteries.I've checked all of the pre-programmed service bands (air, ham, police/fire, marine, and NOAA weather) and they work fine.I also did a factory reset to clear the frequencies that were on it so that you can enter the ones that you prefer.All in all I think this is a good radio.Comes with the antenna, belt clip, radio shack power adapter, and a fresh set of batteries to get you up and running as soon as you receive it.Whether you're looking or buying I appreciate you stopping by.
