Description: Rare 19th century wood Puzzle Book Bank. If you hold it like a book, the spine will not open, but if you hold it on its side, and shake it just a little, the mechanism inside lines up and the spine slides open. Spine reads, Patented July 15, 1873. This Book Bank measures 5 ¼" by 3 1/4" by 1 1/2" thick. Nicely carved detailing in the wood. The area around the edges of the book where the pages would be is covered with an endpaper and there are floral transfers on the front and back covers. One of the floral transfers in worn in the center and there is some wear to the endpaper on the top and bottom page areas of the book and around the embossed leather on the spine where it reads "Bank" and "Patented July 17th 1873". There are also a few chips on the bottom near where the bank opens up and on one corner (marked up in last photos). Overall wonderful condition for being 151 years old. USPS Priority shipping $6.25. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thanks.
