🔥RARE Antique 19th c. Dutch Old Master Impressionist Oil Painting, P. Williot

Description: This is a wonderful and RARE Antique 19th c. Dutch Old Master Impressionist Oil Painting on canvas, by the mysterious and seldom seen 19th century Belgian painter P. Williot, who was known to work out of his studio in Brussels. This work depicts a typical Belgian - Dutch scene, with small and intricately painted figures ice skating on a frozen lake under a pink and azure hued sky. Delicate and softly painted snow covers the landscape, and an old 17th century building can be seen in the distance, with a plume of white smoke rising from the chimney. Signed: "P. Williot" in the lower right corner. Additionally, there is a very old auction or collector's label on the verso, and some numbering in graphite on the top stretcher bar. Approximately 14 3/4 x 22 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 12 x 19 1/2 inches. Very good condition for age, with one small tear which has been professionally repaired in the upper left of the canvas (please see photos.) Original period frame has some minor scuffing and edge wear. A catalogue of paintings from the Museum of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences published in 1910 lists a painting by P. Williot titled "Winter Scene." in their holdings. This particular work might be the painting that is referenced. Less than a handful of artworks by P. Williot are known to exist. Acquired from a private collection in Pasadena, California. This lovely and rare European painting would be a wonderful addition to any art collection.
