NY TIMES October 30th , 1970 MELBOURNE, Australia, Oct. 30 (AP)—Peter Beames, a 23‐ year‐old British golfer, took the lead today at the halfway mark of the Dunlop international tournament by firing a second round 68 for a 137 total over the 7,116‐yard, par‐72 Royal Canberra course.Beames was one shot ahead of Lee Trevino of El Paso, Tex., who shot a course record 66; Gary Player of South Africa, Guy Wolstenholme of Britain and Graham Marsh of Aus tralia.
