Description: BUSHEL BASKET, 4-Footed Blue Opalescent c. 1908 Made and Signed (Underlined N in Circle) on Interior Center by the Harry C. Northwood Glass Co. Wheeling, West Virginia Approximate Dimensions: 4.25" (Diameter, excluding handles) 4.5" (High, including handles) This is a very pretty blue opalescent glass Bushel Basket made by the Harry C. Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia, circa 1908. The pattern is very well-articulated. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Most, if not all, bushel baskets have "stretch lines" in the handles. They are not cracks, just part of the manufacturing. There are the usual internal air bubbles and straw marks (shearing tool marks) commonly associated with the hand manufacturing of old carnival and opalescent glass. Each piece of old glass is unique, no two are exactly alike. A spectacular find. A wonderful gift.
