For auction is a stunningly beautiful, original and hard to find (circa 1880) Western Electric (CHICAGO) telegraph Morse code relay. Item is from a smoke free home. Item is in excellent overall condition considering it's age and item does show some light wear/age. Please review all fifteen clear pictures as they are an important part of this description. Item is intact and sturdy... and free from any major non original modifications, drilled holes, etc. Item is also free from any loose particles inside/outside it's base and/or matching, original coil set. The original base is intact and in excellent condition as shown, please see picture six to view the base's underside. Both original coils were found nicely intact and free from any signs of major damage. This relay does appear to function properly, and has not been tested any further. Item may need adjustment and/or proper testing by the buyer to fit their period telegraph system/format. Again, this item is in fantastic original condition as all pictures demonstrate; picture two provides measurements which support it's larger size. These late 1800s telegraph relays do not show up often at all, especially in this superb, period original condition. Item has all the potential to make a top shelf addition in your telegraph collection and/or post Civil War era telegraphic assortment. As with all vintage electronics, a qualified person and/or technician should go through this item before continuous use.
