Like most all the plants of this genus, the pinnate leaves close together like praying hands at night. It is very prolific bloomer with pink and white puff ball flowers that begin as buds that resemble small berries. The flowers are very attractive to a very large number of different butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. It is an attractive single specimen plant. Its' small in stature, with a somewhat horizontal growth habit and exceptionally long blooming period (Spring thru late Fall), so it is well suited for urban and small lots, butterfly gardens and wildlife habitat use. While it can be mass planted and hedged, there are better choices of the species for that use.
