About this Cairn Creation: Named for Joyce Kilmer, the poet who wrote “Trees,” my Kilmer is performing the ritual of planting an acorn at a child’s birth, commemorating the new life. Behind him is an old tree that has died, planted at the birth of his own father. His father’s name was Wash, as was my grandfather’s. The name is carved in the tree in “Runic,” the language used by Gnomes and Woodspirits on important occasions. If you are a kindred spirit of the little people, then you will be able to see the grandfather’s face on the tree. Early editions have a German coin which depicts a lady similarly planting a tree. On later editions a 1928 penny was placed on top of the first coin, for the year the artist was born. Condition: There are no chips or cracks and the figurine is in like new used estate condition and comes from a smoke free home and has not been on display. Marks: The marks are best seen in pic# 13 for best description.
