Description: We hand made these trivets from a vintage hutch we recycled. The wood is an amazing hard wood called box elder wood which is not common. We didn't want to take the character away from these pieces, on the back you'll see the bizarre pocket holes the builder used to put the initial hutch together. These are completely food safe. They were sanitized and then 5 layers of homemade furniture wax was applied. Like any quality, wood trivets. You should use and oil this board generously to keep it hard and beautiful! Full disclaimer... I want these pieces to age with you. Adding hot things from the oven to these trivets will start to darken them over time. It will not burn them.
